Lonely Planet :
"This first rate hotel is 100m walk east of Aguas Calientes through the train station. It has large thatched bungalows scattered around lush, tropical gardens. The spacious rooms are extremely comfortable while preserving a rustic charm- some even have open fireplaces, though some readers complain the in-room hair dryers and cable TV are unavailable. There is also an onsite sauna and masseur."
By Fodors:
This stunningly beautiful ecolodge is in a high tropical cloud forest just off the twisting road leading up to the ruins. The stone bungalows, none with the same design, have a rustic elegance, with exposed beams and cathedral ceilings. Activities include a one-day Inca Trail trek, bird-watching excursions, and orchid tours. Dining in the restaurant overlooking the surrounding hills is first-rate -- try the delicious crema de choclo (corn chowder).
Insight guides:
"The Pueblo is the best hotel in Aguas calientes, with lovvely grounds. But it is slighly isolated and it is a tedious walk along the railroad tracks to the village and bus terminal".
South America Handbook:
"Beautiful colonial-style bungalows in village compounds surrounded by cloud forest. lovely gardens, pool, expensive restaurant, also campsite with hot shower at good rate, offer tours to Machu Picchu, several guided walks on the property. Also has a Cafe Amazonico by the railway line. Recommended but there are a lot of steps between the public areas and rooms". |
