Subject : Our trip
Dear Mery,
Thank you for arranging for our trip.
In spite of the few airplane delays we thoroughly enjoyed the non-stop adventure.
Yes, there was mis-understanding about the airport taxes. I suggest you advise future travelers that there are $5 per person taxes to board a flight for internal travel and $28 per person for external travel.
Please thank Mr. Colunga for staying with us through the last two days.
His knowledge of the area was helpful.
We also appreciated the several side trips to museums and great lunches especially that at the Hacienda de San Jose. Interesting to learn of the slave trade that also took place in Peru.
If you could be so kind to also offer our gratitude to Oscar, our guide down at Lago Sandoval. Also a very knowledgeable person.
The guides in Cusco, Manuel and Elga, were wonderful. Our guide in Macchu Pichu, Jenny (sic?) was very helpful. She even encouraged the 5 kids to walk down the mountain. They actually were faster than the bus!!
Overall, we wish to thank you for pulling this together. We will recommend your services to others as the occasion arises.
We thought it interesting the delay by Lanchile at the departure.
We were initially told it was due to Customs problems in the US. But the flight crew told us it was due to mechanical problems on the plane before leaving Chile. This was confirmed in the US. The Customs agents wondered why our flight was so late - all other incoming flights had arrived and been processed on schedule.
We arrived at 8 PM in Los Angeles. Were out of Customs by 8:50 (most due to baggage delivery delay from the airline). We had to walk from one end of LAX to the other to the Southwest terminal. 15 minutes. We got there and found they had a delayed flight leaving at 9:20 to San Jose. They accepted our tickets from our earlier missed flight and refunded the ones we bought online for travel to Oakland (our backup to get us to the San Francisco area - we live closest to San Jose (20 minutes) but are also only 30 minutes from San Francisco and 40 minutes from Oakland). We had to check our luggage
again through security and literally run to the airplane gate - they held it for us - we doubled the number of people on the plane - they even got our luggage on board on time. So were were home and ready for bed before mid-night!! Katy had to rise at 4 AM to get to her shift at the hospital - she is a doctor in Intensive Care right now.
I continue to wonder why LanChile could not find Southwest flights on its computers.
Again, thank you all.
